Is it possible to unite the official labor market policy with deep art processes?
Is it possible to define the process of making art in a work description?
How is society’s tolerance and acceptance for artistic activity in times of economic uncertainty affected?
The project Arbetslinjen is an attempt to, in the form of an exhibition, highlight and discuss these questions and other reflections regarding Arbetslinjen, both as a phenomenon in society and as a concept which has been used very frequently in the public debate in the last few years.
The exhibition does not in any way claim to give any answers, but wants to inspire to thought and refection. It is of utmost importance that these questions are being asked and discussed also in the form of an exhibition since the cultural sector is deeply affected by the changes in the view of what constitutes individual/man/society and work that have taken place over the last few years;
What sort of work is considered useful and which type of people are perceived to add something valuable to society?
An open debate about the project with invited guests is planned for Saturday February 11th at 15.00.

Let me look into your eyes
Lotte Nilsson-Välimaa
Situation Picture, watercolor study of eyes on restaurant Rosen in Stockholm, October 2011.
“I don’t know, if it was the light that fell into his eyes in a strange way, but I do clearly remember how it affected me when I looked into the spherically green mixed circle, his iris. And my eyes were drawn further into the inevitable center, the dark pupil.”
The exhibition is based on meetings with around 50 people - occasions when I got the opportunity to make a watercolor study of their iris and pupil.
During the opening of the exhibition and the following Saturdays I will continue to invite visitors to a colour observation of their eyes. It happens when we are sitting facing each other for 15 minutes.
A human eye is complex and my ambition is not to analyze it or try to read something hidden by looking into the eye. I just want to give full attention to the eyes I look into.
Welcome!
Thanks to: you that showed me your eyes, Hans Johansson (film technique), Kenneth Pils (technique), Miriam Lagergren (Photography)
